Network Computing (network security and network communication)

Network Computing (network security and network communication)

Application Scenario:
Increasing diversity of connected devices brings challenges to IT management anytime, anywhere. From enterprises to SMBs, all IT Managers need less devices to solve more problems 24/7.

Implementing an UTM (Unified Network Management) appliance could be the mainstream solution, since the UTM has integrated network security features, including: spam detection, intrusion detection, anti-virus, web filtering, intrusion prevention, VPN and firewall application.

Acrosser provides quality x86 network appliance with different form factors. We supply UTM vendors with reliable hardware, and we offer seasoned industrial experience to help these vendors to build up systems with reasonable time and cost.

Spam Protection | Regain Control over your Inbox

How much does spam cost your company?

As a business owner, you probably spend a solid amount of time every day checking your email and responding to leads, customers, and employees. Unfortunately, one of the primary faults in email communication is the prevalence of spam. If your organization only works with the bare essentials of spam protection, you’re likely wasting both time and money that could be better spent elsewhere.

The average small and medium-sized business shouldn’t have to deal with spam complications on a regular basis. Flexures Concepts’s comprehensive spam protection solution is designed to help your organization eliminate spam before it ever hits your inbox. By deploying a comprehensive spam protection strategy, you and your staff can get down to business without having to first sift through piles of useless messages.

Eliminate Unnecessary Costs

Free up extra funds for use in other, more important avenues of business.

Spam is a major problem for many organizations that don’t have adequate protection. Spam accounts for just over 50% of all emails sent, and according to another survey, at least $500 is lost per year for every one of your employees due to the time wasted from dealing with spam. It’s clear that the costs and lost productivity adds up. By integrating a spam protection solution, you’ll be able to keep your employees from being overwhelmed with spam; leading to increased productivity and improved organizational efficiency.

Mitigate IT Security Risks

Drastically reduce the possibility of stray threats on your network.

Spam is a primary mode of transportation for threats like viruses, malware, spyware, and other risks to your business’ cyber security. If your users accidentally open a spam message that’s disguised as a genuine message, it could have a widespread effect on your entire IT infrastructure. Therefore, it’s crucial that you eliminate this potential threat before something slips through your defenses.

Flexures Concepts’s spam protection is a completely hosted solution that uses intelligent, pre-designed filters to keep suspicious emails from entering your network in the first place. Anything blocked is quarantined for you to review, which ensures you don’t miss an important email.

Take Back Your Workday

Save precious time by eliminating spam and junk mail.

The majority of the email your organization receives is likely to be spam. Sifting through spam is a huge waste of your staff’s time, which could be much better spent on profitable initiatives. By eliminating spam, you’re essentially giving your company the chance to jump-start operations, improve workflow, and gain the competitive edge.

Flexures Concepts’s spam protection solution is designed to keep your spam at an absolute minimum, so your staff can stop wasting time and better manage their inbox.

Business Class Firewall & Web Content Filtering

Apply filters to user groups to only allow work related content to be accessed

In order to grow as a company in today’s digital world, you have to provide your employees with resources that make them more efficient. The Internet is one of most important resources your employees will require. Unfortunately, if not controlled properly, granting access to the internet can create its own inefficiencies.

With free access to the internet, employees may be prone to use it for non-work related task. By the capabilities to control access to certain types of content, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and even Netflix, you ensure that your employees are staying on task throughout the day. Some employees may require access to certain sites, for promotion and marketing purposes, while others do not. With our Content Filtering solution, you can control who is given access to what by setting up specific user groups with access levels.

By creating user groups, and assigning access rights to them, you control what messages filter to what group, and control what is designated as spam for those groups, and what isn't. After your initial configuration of the software, you can then move users into groups, thoroughly managing the type of content made available to them.

Reduce Security Threats

Gain complete control over your security by blocking access to distasteful content.

One of the most crucial parts of business administration is being able to protect personal information, and other sensitive material. Unfortunately, there are people in the world that mine for information, and sell it for their own self-interest. A number of these entities are specifically designed to retrieve information with the use of coordinated instructions.

Some of these strategies involve delivering malware; in the form of a virus, Trojan horse, or Internet worm to distasteful mediums that get a lot of traffic. If a user accidentally navigates to these types of sites, it can create security problems. A simple search for “free software” can lead users to infested sites that look completely legitimate. Once a user downloads the file and opens it, your entire network can be compromised with malicious entities.

With our Content Filtering solution, you have complete control over the prevention of these types of threats. Have the ability to protect your business from unwanted intruders with Flexures Concepts’s content filtering service. If you are a small or midsize business in the Hampton Roads area, and want more information about how Flexures Concepts can find valuable solutions to all your companies points of contention, call us today.

Network Security | 24 Hour Support and Monitoring

Eliminate wasted time and money by managing your security from one location.

Standard point-of-service security solutions are highly difficult to institute, update, and manage. This can lead to complex operations and an increase to overhead cost. Flexures Concepts wants to help you eliminate these issues with an All-In-One Security Solution, also known as Unified Threat Management (UTM).

A UTM combines all the basic IT security measures in one single device. With this solution your business’ network security can be highly manageable since the application, control, and maintenance of your network’s content are all managed in a centralized location. No more will you have to institute security updates to all of your workstations, which not only saves you time, but boosts profitability.

Increase Productivity

Increase your workforce’s productivity by implementing content control.

Your staff undoubtedly have different values, opinions, and levels of efficiency. As a result, it's important to be able to deter user access to certain elements that may be costly to your business. These website can include:

job searches
social networking websites
microblogging websites
video streaming
distasteful content such as adult -oriented websites and file sharing sitesany other site that can sap productivity

By implementing a UTM appliance from Flexures Concepts, you have complete control over what type of content is accessible to certain employees. Studies show that the average employee wastes around two hours of company time per day on personal internet use. Prevent workforce inefficiencies today with a Unified Threat Management Solution.

Prevent Security Threats

Eliminate intrusion and stay up to date.

One of the reasons why intrusions happen is because security software is out of date. Security companies do a good job of keeping pace with hackers, but if you don’t promptly apply applicable patches, you leave your entire IT infrastructure at risk of exploits. With a UTM from Flexures Concepts, your security is never a question because updating one centralized location eliminates the possibility of forgetting to update all your devices.

Nine Things My Start-up Taught Me

In 2015, I took a break from my nine-to-five and leaped into an adventure chasing dreams and building my own business; and what a year it was!
Clutched (the online luxury accessory rental boutique I started with my brother) is doing well, but is still very much in the start-up phase (launched to the public at the beginning of 2016).
So as our six month anniversary approaches, I thought it would be a perfect time to sit down and reflect on the first year-and-a-bit of my start-up journey and some key learnings and advice that I wish I could get into the DeLorean and tell my 2015 self.

1) Continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection
I spent pretty much an entire year "planning" Clutched. Yep, a year.
12 months. 52 weeks. 365 days.
Granted, there were legitimate delays outside of my control, and I didn't actually spend that *entire* time actively working on it, but that's roughly how long it took to [wo]man up and just launch to the public.

My learning here is to not worry about that elusive goal of perfection and to just create something that works, launch it, get people's reactions and feedback and improve from there. Agility > perfectionism.
Far too much time was spent overthinking, not wanting/embarrassed to show anything to anyone until it was "perfect"; a destination I soon realised is about as real as the meat in cheap sausages.

Trust me, it feels AMAZING to see your plans come to fruition - just do it!

2) Copying an idea is fine. Copy and pasting some else's hard work is not
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. Personally, I prefer my flattery in the form of chocolates and flowers.
Since launching Clutched, we've already had to deal with slogan thieves and website copycats.

When you release something of quality into the world (especially online), it's very easy and very inevitable that people are going to engage in a bit of blatant Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V action. So I like to rely on what I call my Continuous Awesome Strategy. As the name suggests, it's the commonsensical method of continuously striving to be more awesome than yesterday (and thus yesterday's copiers).

3) The new kind of social
Gone are the days of proudly framing newspaper clippings or that tiny line in a magazine which made reference to your business (that a total of 6 people saw; 5 of which were your relatives).
Nowadays, it's all about the who's who on social media giving you a shout-out to their following, often with a minimum viewership of 20k. If you choose your digital influencers carefully, the price you pay for the collaboration will be made back almost instantly via sales.

I'm going to be publishing a separate post dedicated entirely to my social media learnings and working with digital influencers (a massive passion of mine), so watch this space.

Above: Top Australian blogger, Kiara from Lion In The Wild, promoting our popular YSL clutch

4) Size doesn't always matter
I've been told that it's often advantageous to start small when launching a start-up. But with that comes the feelings of inadequacy: "am I big enough?" and "everyone else seems to be a lot bigger than me".
We launched Clutched with a total of five bags. Five lovingly selected bags based on popularity and niche. And to be honest, I suffered from a serious case of size inferiority.

Are we even a legit business with such a small inventory? Will people take us seriously? The answer to those questions is yes, you are legit and yes, people will most definitely take you seriously. If only I had known sooner, it would have saved me a lot of sleepless nights.

5) Be real and be human
Just because you're launching a business in the fashion ecommerce industry, doesn't mean you need to fit into the stereotypical "fashion girl/guy" type (which I most definitely am not - my idea of fashion is a licensed Batman tee tucked into grey tracksuit pants!) and nor do your customers. I contemplated adopting some sort of fake persona to try and be what I *thought* we needed to be in order to appeal to the people to which I *thought* we needed to appeal.

I've realised that by staying true to yourself and your brand's core ethos, both on social media and real life, customers, influencers and fellow entrepreneurs are more likely to want to get to know/gravitate towards YOU and your brand, as opposed to seeing your business as an unapproachable shopfront.
Companies I massively look up to in this regard are Missguided, Nasty Gal, Uber, Airbnb, ASOS and Sendle.

6) Do your online platforms well or not at all
A good online presence is worth its digital weight in gold. However, if you don't know how to create a quality, functional website (or don't have the time/resources to learn) and have no budget for the professionals, then simply don't have a website at all (where possible).

We live in an age where there are a variety of platforms (and combinations of) to run a business (such as Etsy, Facebook and Instagram), depending on your business model. A website with low resolution images, poor navigation, useless information and no booking/payment system is pointless and will only tarnish your brand.
I've seen people run professional, successful businesses digitally sans website, so it *can* be done. I've also seen amazing business social media accounts linking to aesthetically (and functionally) distasteful websites, detracting from the quality social media content they're producing.
So I guess it's a case of sticking to your strengths and/or outsourcing where possible (but tread with caution when outsourcing creative assistance for one platform and not another; it can result in disjointed messaging and branding).

7) It's not *just* what's inside that counts
It took MONTHS to find a manufacturer who could produce the shipping boxes for our clutches with which we were 100% happy. We were after a very specific textural finish and rose gold logo embossing. Heaps of companies offered similar products, but none had the wow factor we needed.
After contacting every other manufacturer in Australia, we finally found a local company (Joyland in Belmont) who made the boxes exactly how we wanted and were very reasonably priced.
The very first customer we shipped a clutch to immediately contacted us in absolute awe of our packaging, and commented on the actual clutch only after they finished gawking over the box. I don't think we would have gotten that response had we gone with the less-than-perfect, average, mass produced options.
I strongly believe that the way your product is packaged and arrives to the customer is a massive part of the overall experience. My motto is that customers should feel like it's their birthday when receiving and opening your product. You wouldn't put an awesome present in a crappy beaten up shoe box, would you?

Above: Our custom-made shipping boxes by Joyland

8) No one cares about your business as much as you do
When you're working on a start-up, it's inevitable that it'll consume you. It becomes more than just a start-up; it becomes an extension of one's self.
We've all got ideas, but you're actually acting on your idea and attempting to bring it to life, and that's a scary and brave thing to do! What if you fail?! What if you make a big mistake!? What if people laugh at you and don't "get" why and what you're doing!?
My advice: NO. ONE. CARES (well, at least not as much as you do).

I'm told that most start-ups either fail and shut down, don't make money for a long, long time, or evolve from what they originally were into something totally different. Which brings me to my last point….

9) Never forget why you started
I'm sure there's a lot of people whose entire objective when becoming an entrepreneur is to rake in the moolah and buy a small Greek island. I think it's great to have hopes of becoming the next Sophia Amoruso, but your heart's got to be with the goal, not the glory. Ask yourself WHY you came up with the idea in the first place. I'm guessing it's because you identified a gap in the market or you think you can do better than what's already out there. So stick with that. That way you can set yourself realistic and achievable short and long term goals to get your big idea to where it needs to be to become successful. And from there, once your start-up gets traction, you can start to put a raincheck on that island ;-)

Find something people want, not what you think will make money - hopefully that can sort itself out later.

It'll be a while before our project is profitable. But the many dollars and countless hours poured into it have already reaped major benefits worth much more than the initial investment.
You can't put a price on forming valuable connections, building a strong personal and professional brand within Perth's booming start-up industry, learning lifelong lessons and building a new and relevant skill set which will no doubt lead to bigger and better things.

People pay money to attend courses to learn the things that struggling startup owners learn in their first years of business. Running your own business is like attending your very own live university.
So to anyone with an idea, big or small, don't do what I did and overthink every last detail. Plus, the more mistakes you make, the more you learn.
As long as you're in a situation that gives you leeway to take a leap of faith, jump!

Five Startup Office Hacks You Can Use In Your Small Business

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but boredom is its wicked stepmother. And let’s face it, the office can be a pretty boring and frustrating place – especially for startups who are typically short on staff, time and money. But, it doesn’t have to be.

I’m an engineer by trade – first withGoogle and then with Twitter – and engineers (like many entrepreneurs) are wired to always be looking for the most direct path forward. We love envisioning ourselves as long awaited catalysts pushing things into the future, no matter how seemingly broken or arcane a situation might appear to be. This mindset led me to develop Envoy, but I soon learned I wasn’t alone. There were other people in the world unwilling to accept the dull, inefficiency of the traditional office life. These are the unsung startup heroes and workplace aces behind the “office hack”.

We created the Office Hacks podcast series to celebrate that spirit of inventiveness and share some of the best startup office hacks.  Here are some of my favorites from our series that any startup could steal to add a little fun and boost office productivity.

Rethink’s Wall of Lego

Even the best creative minds need to step away to refresh and refocus sometimes.Rethink Communications created a hack for mental blocks using literal building blocks of creativity, all while rethinking what can be done with a boring office wall. The answer? LEGOs, naturally! They glued panels of LEGO bases to the wall and set out a giant tub of LEGOs, allowing people to let their minds wander and create 3D designs sprouting off the wall that the whole office, and any visitor, can admire and enjoy. I love how they created an engaging way to let staff blow off steam, bond together and refresh their thoughts by letting them tinker, play, and above all, have fun in a super unique way.

Slack’s Rolling Rooms

Slack found a super cool way to really keep productivity rolling. They put their conference rooms on wheels. Hear me out. They introduced these mobile pods into the office that are basically self-contained rooms on wheels that can be rolled about and positioned creatively around the office. It gives people a fun way to step away from their desks for a change of pace and to find some alone time. And again, being on wheels, the rooms can be rolled and joined together to create a conference room for some brainstorming. It’s an ingenious hack for the prevailing lack of privacy in the modern work space that’s also insanely fun and unique.

PubNub coffeemaker. Credit: Pacific Content.

PubNub’s Connected Coffeemaker

How many times has this happened: you’re in full-on zombie-mode at work, you’re looking for a hit of coffee, you walk up to the coffee dispenser and… uh oh, it’s out. An engineer at PubNub found a way to avoid that rude awakening (or lack of awakening). They hooked the coffee dispenser to a scale which is connected to a Raspberry Pi device. The result? People are notified when the coffee is close to needing replenishment. Way more efficient, convenient and practical — and a more productive and motivated workforce!

Mozilla’s Raspberry HiFi. Credit: Pacific Content.

Mozilla’s Raspberry Pi HiFi

Sometimes a bit of nostalgia can be quite entertaining in the office. Especially if that comes in the form of a record player that streams real cracks, pops, and hisses live over the internet. That’s exactly what one entrepreneuring engineer built over atMozilla (you know, the Firefox guys). They took a record player, hooked it up to a Raspberry Pi, installed some internet radio streaming software and published a link for everyone in the office to listen to some old-school vinyl you just can’t find in the cloud. It’s a great example of how a bit of tinkering, inspiration and initiative can really help lighten the mood around the office.

Slide at Grip. Credit: Pacific Content.

Grip’s Giant Orange Slide

Similarly, culture is a critical part of companies keeping employee morale high. To what lengths are some companies willing to go? Well, Grip went as far as installing a giant orange slide inside their office. Everyone loves going down it: from their employees, to interview candidates, to guests and delivery people. It’s a fun way of standing out and showing that things don’t need to always be so serious at the place of business. What’s more, their couple thousand dollar investment has also paid massive dividends in press articles and recruiting.

Small innovations like these are having a ripple effect as companies slowly but surely hack their way to a new future. One where playful inventiveness and creative thinking transform the workplace into a fun place where we can all enjoy the benefits of new thinking.

5 Tech Solutions For Common Small-Business Problems

As technology levels the playing field for small businesses, more companies are making the connection between strong IT investment and improved business performance. The 85% of small businesses planning to increase their technology investments are more likely to anticipate higher revenue, said the 2012 SMB Routes to Market Study. Here are five technologies helping to solve common small-business problems.

1. Mobile Applications

The problem: For small businesses, being away from the office makes it difficult to share data and be available to customers.

The solution: Some 94% of small business users believe mobile devices make them more efficient, said the Mobility Edge Report from CDW. Smartphones are the most popular mobile device among small business users, while tablet usage is growing. Evernote is a free app that helps organize users across multiple devices, with the ability to take notes and capture web pages. Square is a mobile-payment device that attaches to a smartphone to accept credit card payments on the go.

2. Analytics

The problem: Small businesses are catching on that social media is where their customers are. But how do they know if their marketing is effective?

The solution: “Companies that figure out how to harness and turn data into insights most effectively will gain huge competitive advantages,” said the SMB study. Beyond Google AnalyticsGeckoBoard is a hosted dashboard that integrates different services so users can see web traffic next to sales figures. Crazy Egg creates heat-map website images so businesses can see exactly where users are clicking.

3. Cloud Storage

The problem: Lack of time and resources for IT tasks can cause big headaches for overworked small businesses.

The solution: Some 52% of small and medium-sized businesses are adopting cloud services to outsource IT tasks like data storage, said the SMB study. Dropboxis a popular app for sharing documents and photos across multiple devices.Microsoft SkyDrive offers the ability to replicate files on multiple systems, said PC Magazine.

4. Mobile Security

The problem: With small businesses depending heavily on smartphones, lost and stolen devices are a top mobile security concern, says Symantec Corp research.

The solution: Securing mobile devices with encryption or data wiping to prevent thieves from accessing sensitive business data. Lookout Mobile Security Premium is PC Magazine’s Editors’ Choice for Android security suites, enabling users to remotely lock, wipe or locate devices. Its signal flare feature helps locate phones when batteries die – also available in its iOS product.

5. Web Teleconferencing

The problem: Communication with far-flung employees, clients and vendors can be expensive for many small businesses.

The solution: Web-based teleconferencing services let large groups make video and voice connections, usually without special equipment – or sky-high phone fees. Reigning champ Adobe Connect is “the solution to beat,” said PC Magazine. Up-and-comer Fuze Meeting Pro offers innovative features like Fuze In for dialing in late participants.

As technology keeps expanding the playing field for small businesses, the most innovative solutions are helping companies manage their growing networks of mobile and social media connections.

Deploying Exchange Server 2013 (Part 3)

Introduction

In this article series we went through the installation process of a new Exchange Server 2013 on two new servers. Now that you have a Mailbox and a CAS server up and running we are going to visit the basic settings to get your environment running in a brief tour and during the process we will see some of the new features. The objective of this article is to show you how to create your first users, configure mail flow, certificates and how to find stuff on the new interface. If you want to go through all details of each feature, hang in there and wait for the upcoming articles here at MSExchange.org where each feature will be explained.

First glance at Exchange Server 2013 and testing basic features..

Let’s look around our new Exchange Server 2013 deployment and we start noticing a couple of changes. The first thing is that the Exchange Management Console is gone, however we still have Exchange Toolbox (Figure 01) and that GUI has some of the tools that we have been using for ages such as Remote Connectivity Analyzer and Queue Viewer.

Figure 01

If you want to manage your Exchange Server 2013 you have two options: EAC (Exchange Admin Center), as shown in Figure 02, or Exchange Management Shell. The first one is easy to access using a web browser just point out to https://<server-Name>/ECP(in our case UYEX02 which is our CAS) and type in your credentials and from there you will be able to manage your organization, servers and recipient information.

Figure 02

The Exchange Admin Center (EAC) interface is simple and it is very easy to find stuff you need. You won’t be more than 2 or 3 clicks away in average from the settings that you are looking for. The interface has a static menu on the left side and when we select one of the items you will be presented with all possible features related to that scope in a new horizontal menu. From there the administrator can start managing the features.

There is also a standard set of icons in the Toolbar area to manage all settings as shown in figure 03, starting on the left we have the plus sign icon which means add stuff, the pen icon is the Edit one, the trash icon is the deletion, then we have Search, Refresh and the ... icon which can be considered More Actions.. When we select something on the list view (located right above the Toolbar) then detailed information for the selected object will show up on the right side (Details Pane), as shown in Figure 03.

Figure 03

Since we have the EAC open, let’s check the servers of our organization. Click the Servers item and on the right side a list of all servers will appear (Figure 04). If you are coming from Exchange Server 2007/2010 this view would be similar to the Server Configuration item view. If we look closely we can see that on the Servers section we can also configure DAG, Databases, Virtual Directories and certificates.

If you click the desired server more options will show up on the right side, and in this scenario we could register the new product by clicking the Enter Product Key link.

Managing a new domain in Exchange Server 2013

In order to test the product you probably want to create your own domain, and that is easily done by clicking the Mail Flow item and then Accepted Domains in the tab area and finally the Add… icon, as shown in Figure 05.

Figure 05

The result will be a new page where we have the same options that we have using Exchange Management Console on Exchange Server 2007/2010, as shown in Figure 06. Type in the information and click Save, the new domain will show up on the List View.

Figure 06

Now that we have configured the domain we can change the Default Policy. By default it will only include the FQDN of your Active Directory defined to our new domain. In order to change the Default Policy click the Mail Flow item, then Email Address Policies on the Toolbar area and double-click theDefault Policy entry. Click Email Address format as shown in figure 07 and double-click the only entry that we have.

Figure 07

Let’s uncheck the option Enter a custom address type, and click Select an accepted domain, also let’s click Make this format the reply email address as shown in Figure 08. Then click Save twice, a message box will be displayed, click OK.

Figure 08

There is a catch in some of the interfaces in EAC and that is a good example, the Default Policy was changed, however it wasn’t applied and to do that we need to select the entry on the List View and then a link on the right side (Figure 09) will show up with an action, in our case the Apply action.

Figure 09

Creating mail-enabled objects…

The SMTP address configured at organization level and defined to stamp any new mail-enabled object with our domain leads us to create our first user in our new environment. Click Recipients and then the Add icon under Mailboxes tab. The new wizard page (Figure 10) will require the information about the new mailbox, and we can choose which organization unit the new object will be created in. If we click More options… we will be able to manage Database, Archive Database and Address Book Policies.

Figure 10

You may be wondering... Am I going to have just these few attributes to manage users from EAC? Well the answer is no, however you will need to double-click the desired mailbox (after creating it) to be able to configure specific settings, as shown in Figure 11. In this example we are able to manage the SMTP address for that specific user.

Figure 11

Mail Flow…

Due the architectural changes in Exchange Server 2013, the transport component has changed a little bit and a further article on this topic will be required. However the good news is that any Exchange Server 2013 by default accepts external mail traffic without any special configuration. This configuration can be checked on the Receive Connector called Default Frontend <ServerName> and since we have the roles installed on two servers we should look at the CAS server role.

In order to send messages we need to create a Send Connector, using DNS resolution and selecting which servers can use the connector to send messages out. The Send Connector can be managed in the Mail Flow / Send Connectors section, as shown in Figure 12. By default only the Mailbox role will show up on the list of the source servers but we can change such behaviour by changing the option “Proxy through client access server” on the properties of the newly created connector.

Figure 12

Managing Certificates…

In Exchange Server 2010 the Certificate Wizard was really cool, but now with EAC it became a piece of cake! We can fully manage the certificate process through the EAC. The only thing is that we are going to use a UNC path to move files around during some wizards. Anyway, to start managing your certificates let’s go to Servers and then Certificates (Figure 13).
Note:
After installing a new certificate make sure that you assign the services to the new certificate and an IIS Reset is still required to refresh the settings.

Figure 13

My 2 cents of advice is to create your certificate in an internal Certification Authority for your lab, it will be easier this way when it comes to configuring your Outlook client access. Then start thinking about going live using Public Certificates.

Connecting to your Exchange Server 2013 …

The easy way to start testing the mailbox that you have just created is using OWA. Just point your browser to https://ServerName.FQDN/owa and after authenticating and defining the regional settings the user will have access to the new Outlook Web App interface (Figure 14).

Figure 14

If you want to use Outlook to connect to your new Exchange Server 2013, I would recommend you to use the Office13 to check the new features out on both sides of the fence. If you have your certificates properly configured your Outlook autodiscover will work like a charm and you will notice some of the new features - no more connection to a FQDN instead the client will connect to the Mailbox GUID@UPN-Suffix, as shown in Figure 15.

Figure 15

Also, in Outlook settings there are no more settings for MAPI (Figure 16).
